"in the winter of '04, two houston galleries organized a show exhibiting art for sale with a $100 price tag. the strategy allowed for the purchase of art reasonable prices with a portion of the proceeds going to charity. one of the requirements of the show was that all of the artwork must be created and displayed on square, wooden boxes. i am a big fan of joseph cornell so that the box format allowed me to explore formal collage studies rather than traditional painting on canvas. the resulting series of six collage studies utilizes articles i have been collecting (i.e. won't throw away) over the past year."
